Baghdad, August 5 (AKnews) – The international community does not accept Nouri al-Maliki to take over a second term for the prime minister post, according to the leader in the Liberals bloc of the Iraqi National alliance (INA.)
“The United Nations Security Council discussed on Wednesday the formation of the Iraqi government to accelerate the process, any one who follows this matter will find that the first paragraphs of the report confirm the peaceful transfer of power, which means that the international community does not accept al-Maliki to be a prime minister for a second term,†Bahaa al-Araji, a leader in (INA) told (AKnews).
“The Council recommended the government to be strong. The U.N. report, which was discussed by the Security Council states on removing Iraq from Chapter VII, in fact we have repeatedly stressed that this chapter serves the occupation… Maliki’s government made promises and persuaded some of the political blocs after the completion of the security pact with the United States, that it was trying to exclude Iraq from this chapter,†Araji added.
He hoped that “the political blocs commit by the Security Council recommendations, in order to prevent the international community from interfering in the government.â€
In its meeting on Thursday, the United Nations Mission in Iraq expressed in a report to the Security Council its regret as Iraq did not interact with the resolutions of the Council regarding the pending issues with Kuwait; it outlined that the Kuwaiti officials had great hopes in the next Iraqi government to resolve these issues.
The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has urged Iraq on the 16th of last November to commit with Kuwait , in particular the Security Council resolution No. 833 over the demarcation of borders, in order to get out of the penalty provisions of Chapter VII of the U.N. Charter.
The Security Council decided in January 2010 to keep the immunity on the Iraqi funds and prorogue the deposits on the Iraqi oil revenues in the U.N. Iraqi Development Fund, till the end of next year, which is considered as a continuation of the sanctions policy towards Iraq by virtue of Chapter VII.
