Reports: Obama Administration to intensify pressure to form a coalition Iraqi government
Radyoussoa – New York Times reported that the administration of President Barack Obama has stepped up pressure on Iraqi leaders to form a coalition government would curtail the role of the Sadrist bloc opposes the United States in the next government.
The newspaper pointed out in Monday’s editions that the administration had received assurances that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will not be displayed on the Sadrist office in the security services in exchange for their support for the prime minister for a second term.
The newspaper added that the Sadrist movement’s sudden support for Maliki raised the concern of the administration in Washington, which invited them to make further efforts to persuade Maliki to form a government including the Iraqi List led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.
